Anyone can get warts, but they are most common in children. While they normally disappear after a few months, they can sometimes last for years and become bigger and more unsightly.

What Causes Plantar Warts

Plantar warts are caused largely by the HPV types 57, 27. The virus gets into your skin through direct contact. You may also get the virus from places that have been contaminated by infected individuals, such as public baths.

Regardless of what causes warts, are plantar warts contagious?

Yes. Besides contact with an infected person’s skin, you can also get plantar warts when you share clothing, towels, and other items with an infected person.

How to Get Rid of Plantar Warts

Plantar warts are generally harmless and may go away without treatment. However, this may take up to two years. If your warts are painful or spreading, there are several remedies you can use to get rid of them, including:

These medications may also enhance your immune system’s ability to fight wars. The doctor may recommend that you apply the medication regularly at home, with occasional office visits.

  • Minor surgery – This involves cutting away or destroying the wart using an electric needle. This procedure can be painful and requires numbing of the skin first. It has a risk of scarring and hence is not recommended unless all other plantar warts treatments have failed.

  • Plantar wart duct tape removal – This is one of the most common and simplest home remedies for plantar Simply cover the wart with silver duct tape. Change the tape every few days. Between applications, soak the wart and remove dead tissue gently. You can use an emery board or pumice stone to remove the tissue. Leave the wart exposed to the air for a few hours to dry before you cover it with the tape again.

  • Plantar wart apple cider vinegar remedy – Simply put some apple cider vinegar on a piece of cotton and place the cotton on the wart. Use tape to hold it in place. This should be done before bedtime and taken off in the morning. The wart should fall off in two weeks.
